Domaine Azimut — A Vision Inspired by a Passion for Nature
Located in Saint-Damien, in Quebec’s Lanaudière region, Domaine Azimut was born from the vision of Denis Bacon and his wife, Hossine, two passionate developers who imagined a unique living environment where nature conservation, contemporary architecture, and sustainable development come together.
Spanning nearly 8 million square feet of forested land, Domaine Azimut stands out for its low-density residential approach, promoting the harmonious integration of homes into their natural surroundings.
The project goes far beyond traditional real estate development. It also includes the creation of the Domaine Azimut Conservation Park, an initiative dedicated to protecting and showcasing the area’s natural ecosystems, trails, and biodiversity.
This collective effort is supported in part by the participation of the Fondation Santé en Amont, which is committed to developing a regenerative tourism approach that strengthens the connection between nature, communities, and well-being.
A Unique Location at the Gateway to Crique-à-David
One of Domaine Azimut’s most remarkable features is its privileged location at the gateway to the Crique-à-David natural area, known for its mature forests, waterways, and exceptional biodiversity.
This territory is part of a broader recreational and ecological network connecting Saint-Damien and Saint-Zénon, including a proposed hiking trail extending approximately 25 kilometres.
With more than 10 kilometres of trails throughout its own property, Domaine Azimut offers a lifestyle deeply connected to nature, where hiking, relaxation, and exploring the forest become part of everyday life.
An Architectural Creation by Constellations
To bring this vision to life, Constellations Espaces Innovants, under the leadership of its founder and designer, François Turgeon, conceived and developed the Könek Azimut Edition, an innovative prefabricated home combining minimalist architecture, energy efficiency, and environmental integration.
Constellations led the architectural concept, design direction, coordination of specialized expertise, and manufacturing integration, from the initial idea through to the completion of the first prototype.
Inspired by Scandinavian design and contemporary Quebec architecture, the Könek features clean lines, bright interiors, sustainable materials, and an optimized building footprint.
The objective: to demonstrate that a compact home can offer a complete residential experience without compromising comfort, architectural quality, or respect for the surrounding environment.
A Collaboration of Quebec Expertise
The development of the Könek Azimut Edition prototype brought together a team of Quebec professionals, contractors, and specialized manufacturers.
For the construction of the prototype, Constellations collaborated with Larix Construction, an RBQ-licensed and GCR-accredited general contractor recognized in Quebec for its expertise in eco-construction and sustainable residential building.
The project was built around a prefabricated module manufactured by a Quebec-based company, optimizing production, assembly, and the integration of architectural components.
Energy independence was developed in collaboration with Phase3 Energy, led by Paul Dionne, through the integration of solar panels, FranklinWH battery storage, and intelligent energy management technologies.
This combination of design, construction, and technological innovation made it possible to create a fully off-grid residential demonstration home, thoughtfully integrated into its forest environment.
